Neuromodulators

Neuromodulators are anti-aging injectables that treat expression lines that form from repetitive muscular movements. How They Work

Botox is the most popular neuromodulator that has been smoothing expression lines for over two decades. It relaxes the muscles in the forehead, between the eyebrows, and at the outer corners of the eyes to smooth forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet.

Botox is known for delivering concentrated doses of neurotoxins to specific areas of the face. Since those doses don’t spread, injectors can effectively target expression lines in certain areas of the face without affecting the appearance of nearby areas.

What To Expect

Once injected with Botox, you’ll see results within the first several days, typically within the first week. Those results will continue to improve during the first 30 days post-treatment. Botox results typically last between three and four months, although for some, they last closer to six months. The length of your results depends on how quickly your body metabolizes the ingredients in the injections. Follow-up treatment can extend the results long-term and ensure that you keep your expression lines at bay.

Xeomin

Xeomin is another neuromodulator that works similarly to Botox but is specifically formulated to smooth frown lines that form between the eyebrows. Those with frown lines can often appear angry, tired, and unapproachable. Injections with Xeomin into the muscles around the brows can help patients reclaim a youthful appearance and even make a better first impression. Xeomin is known for its highly purified formula, free of any added proteins. Patients who want the purest formula injected into their face often choose Xeomin over other options, as do those who are prone to certain protein allergies. Xeomin results typically appear within the first five to six days of treatment, lasting anywhere from three to four months on average. Consistent follow-up treatments will help patients maintain a frown line-free expression long-term.

The Treatment Process

Your Consultation

We begin treatments with a comprehensive consultation process. During this consultation, we will evaluate your desired treatment areas, discuss your ultimate treatment goals, and answer any questions you may have about Botox or Xeomin. This consultation also allows us to learn more about your medical history and determine whether any medications, skin conditions or allergies may render you ineligible for treatment. Pregnant and nursing women are temporarily disqualified from treatment for safety reasons. By the end of the consultation, we can determine whether you are a good treatment candidate for neuromodulators and whether you would better benefit from Botox or Xeomin.

Your Injections

Once we design your treatment plan, we will schedule your appointment. We ask that patients arrive with clean skin, free of products or cosmetics. Before beginning the injections, we will cleanse your skin. Using an ultra-fine needle, we will administer the necessary amount of units of Botox or Xeomin just below the skin’s surface. The treatment process doesn’t require any anesthesia, but we can apply a pre-treatment numbing solution to ensure your comfort. Total treatment time ranges from 10 to 30 minutes, and then you’ll be able to resume your normal daily activities.

Your Post-Treatment Care

There’s no significant downtime associated with Botox or Xeomin injections. We will provide you with personalized post-treatment recommendations to ensure you achieve the best results. You may be asked to avoid strenuous workouts and alcohol consumption for 24 hours and any activity or environment that increases your body temperature.

Your Results

You won’t see immediate results as soon as your appointment is over. The active ingredients in the injectables will take a few days to relax your muscles. As they do, your skin will appear smoother, and you’ll see a significant reduction in the appearance of lines and wrinkles in your treatment area.Once your results begin to fade, you can schedule a follow-up treatment, and we will evaluate your dosage and administer the necessary amount of product to smooth your lines and wrinkles.
